Health benefits of Cinnamon

Cinnamon is bark of the tree. Cinnamon bark is one of the few spices that can be consumed directly. It has been used since the ancient times. Cinnamon is native to Sri Lanka. It comes under Spice category and is widely used in cooking recipes and desserts. It is known for its flavor and aroma. It is used as cinnamon stick or cinnamon powder.

Increase good Bacteria : Cinnamon helps to increase the good bacteria in the stomach

Aids Digestion : Cinnamon helps to boost digestion

Reduces flatulence : Cinnamon reduces flatulence as it promote good bacteria.

High in antioxidants : It has antioxidants.

Fights against cold : Cinnamon helps to fight common cold with regular use.

Breath freshener : Cinnamon helps to fight bad breath.

Controls Blood Sugar level : Lot of studies are being done to know the accurate extent of it but some are saying that it helps to control blood sugar level specially those who have Type 2 Diabetes.

Great flavor and aroma : Cinnamon gives extra flavor and great aroma to the recipes. It is used in recipes of lamb and chicken. It is also widely used in apple pie and various other pies. One of the famous dish is the cinnamon buns. It is also great with beverages like coffee, tea and liqueur. Its tastes amazingly well with chocolates.

Use in moderation : Though it is beneficial to health it should be used in moderation to avoid any ill effects and avoid overdose of it. Usually ¼ tsp to ½ tsp of it goes a long way.
