One of the most neglected part of our body is feet. It just doesn’t get the attention it deserves, though we use it the most it receives the least amount of attention. Here is a list of things which can be done to keep our feet happy and singing.
The skin on the soles of your feet does not have any oil glands to soften them. So use a good moisturizer every day. Every night put a generous amount of cream on your feet before you go to bed and then pull on a pair of cotton socks. Other great oil that u could apply to your feet is mustard oil it sounds a bit strange but this oil is very effective in reliving cracked heels and also does help in a deep sleep. In ayurveda it is used for a long time and is a very economic and effective to keep the feet moisturized.
Take care of your feet regularly to keep calluses under control. Use a pumice stone or an abrasive foot scrub to remove the dead and rough skin. If this skin is not removed it will become hard and thick and can become cracked and infected making walking difficult.
Every time you buy shoes ensure that you get your feet measure. Measure your feet standing and not sitting. The shape of your feet changes with age as a result of the daily pressure and pregnancy. Your feet are likely to expand and lengthen with age. And try to buy your shoes in the afternoon because by afternoon generally our feet tends to swell a bit.
Replace your shoes every 6 months as well-worn shoes lose their ability to support your feet properly. This can lead to feet, leg and back fatigue and problems. If your job requires you to be on your feet all day it is best you change your shoes every 6 months.
Dip your feet in hot water for some time and then in cold water and repeat it vice versa for a good blood circulation. Pamper with baby oil.
To improve the skin texture and toenails add a little shampoo or a little liquid soap in water and soak your feet.
For feet that are prone to sweating, try soaking your feet in black tea which is lukewarm it is very effective to rid the smell.
The simplest one would be to soak the feet in salt water for sometime.
A cup of limejuice with ¼ cup of milk with a little olive oil and little rose water or a few drops of sandalwood oil or lavender oil for fragrance would be a simple method for feet care.
Nails are to be trimmed straight across without digging in or cutting into the edges.
