Go Crazy For Mangoes!

Mangos really can make you feel better! Beyond being delicious and rich in vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants, mangos contain an enzyme. In India we use a sour mango powder containing ground up green mangos called Amchur, both as a seasoning and tenderizing aid. Research has shown that mango has dietary fiber, but low in calories, fat (only 1 gram) and sodium, also has few traces of protein, has a protective effect against degenerative diseases, especially with regards to the heart; may help prevent certain types of cancer, as well as lowering blood cholesterol levels. An average sized mango can contain up to 40% of your daily fiber requirement. For those of you who are physically active, whether working out or constantly on the go, mangos are also a great way to replenish that lost potassium. Deliciously rich in anti-oxidants, potassium and fiber - the mango is the perfect fruit! Mangos are an excellent source of Vitamins A and C, as well as a good source of Potassium and contain beta carotene, which the body can convert to vitamin A. Its has protective effect against the harmful rays of the sun. It also contains beta-cryptoxanthin.
How much mango should you eat?
An average mango weighs about 150 g. They can be eaten just as is, or mixed into fruit salads.
How should it be consumed?
It is best consumed with fat, so have with meals for better absorbtion of the vitamins.
